|
The
village is a totally unspoiled Gurung settlement set in
the hiss at 1700 meters above sea level. The climate is
ideal at any season of the year. During the September to
June season with warm days and nights. Sirubari village
is a short drive and walk from Pokhara, the major
tourist center for the Annapurna. It is reached from the
road to Lumbini. The trail to the village is steep but
well made and most people manage to reach the village
after a three-hour walk. We will be welcomed into the
community and invited to stay in the home of one of the
villages. The accommodation is simple but comfortable
with good bedding as well as clean toilet facilities.
The food is delicious and you will be eating your meals
as one of the family. Each night there will be
entertainment provided by the community, one evening
this will be in the form of traditional Gurung and
Nepali dancing and singing. You can join in if you want.
The living culture and tradition of Gurungs blended with
their rich hospitality make for an unforgettable
experience for any one who visits Sirubari. Sirubari is
the winner of PATA Gold Award 2001 in Heritage and
cultural-Heritage category.
There Are The Mountains :
Just because you are not trekking it doesnt mean that
you wont see the mountains. An easy one-hour walk above
the village is the viewpoint at Thumro. At 2300 meters
this is the highest point of Pokhara and the views on a
clear day are spectacular. Spread before you are rolling
foothills dotted with isolated farming communities and
crowned by an array of snow peaks that will leave you
breathless. From Manaslu in the east through
Machhapuchare and the Annapurnas and around to
Dhaulagiri the Himalaya giants all line up for your
camera to capture.
Village Life :
During your stay you will be able to feel what it is
like to live the life of a Nepali villager. Walk with
your family while they go about their daily chores,
tending animals, tilling the fields, going to school
with the children, or just sitting in the sun talking to
neighbors. Feel free to wander, safely, by yourself and
look at all of the developments that the community have
supported and funded, the primary health center with its
doctor, the agricultural service center. The veterinary
hospital. The plant nursery and forest plantation. The
list goes on. And, at the end of your stay, you will be
overwhelmed by the farewell that your new family will
give you. If you never come this way again the village
and its people will remain in your heart forever.
What you want get : Hot showers, television, bottled
beer, hamburgers, rubbish on the trail and thousands of
tourists.
What you will get : Delicious local food and drink,
comfortable accommodation, a welcome like you have never
had before and the culture experience of a lifetime.

Nepal trekking /
travel related business was booming until 1999. After that, the
incessant conflict scared off tourists from visiting
Nepal and we are feeling the pinch of the fall in
tourist arrivals. There was a time when we recorded such
a huge flow of tourists that we used to turn back some.
As a professional Nepal tour operator we did not have sufficient
staff and equipment to handle all of them...
